Music and I were acquaintances; we kept running into each other but were never formally introduced. Because of the songwriting classes at Keys ‘n Cords music academy, I have found a friend in music. My interest in music started when I was younger, when I learned how to play the guitar and how to sing. The guitar came first and although I knew how to play it, I was using my intuition to choose the music for my original songs. To gain technique in singing, I took voice lessons with Dr. Reem Deeb, who is now the Academy Director at Keys ‘n Cords music academy. She taught me so much that those lessons helped my voice reach its full potential and allowed me to gain a better understanding of myself as an artist. I would listen to a beautiful song and try to sing it, or hear inspiring lyrics and try to write ones myself, but as much as I wanted to listen to music, I also wanted music to listen to me. To that effect, I enrolled in songwriting classes at Keys ’n Cords. From the very first class, I was greeted by warm smiles and support. Through these classes, I have learned how to build a song musically and lyrically, and have gained many tools that aid in my songwriting. My teacher was very encouraging; when I performed my homework pieces, he listened to them from start to finish and pointed out their strengths while helping me improve on their weaknesses. We would then perform those songs together, he would sing the harmonies and play the accompaniment while I would sing the melody and play the guitar. Hearing my songs in that form gave me so much joy that going to those lessons was the highlight of my week. Because of Keys ‘n Cords, music is my backbone. Through songwriting, I can express myself and even gain a better understanding of my own emotions. Now I have a new way to communicate and to connect with the world, some of my songs have the listeners dancing while others have them in tears. With the technical and practical background that Keys ‘n Cords has given me, I can be sure that music is a friend that will last me a lifetime.

As a parent of a special need young man, I have to say, that I have been looking for the past ten years in Lebanon for a music therapy Instructor. Finally Keys’n Cords Music Academy opened its doors and Karim, my son, was enrolled in their singing classes.

To say, this changed his whole life. Karim has a passion for music and at Keys’n Cords he was made to love it
and become much more attached to singing. With the kind owners, Mrs. Lili and Miss Zalfa Farah, and the patience, love and expertise of the Academy Director, Dr. Reem Deeb, and the sweet reception by Front Desk, Karim wants to go every day and looks forward for his music class time.

I personally highly recommend any person at any age to try Keys’n Cords if they love Music not to mention that my husband is taking singing classes too.

Joining Keys’n Cords Music Academy gave me so much joy, happiness, confidence while performing and confidence in general. My voice teacher, Miss Mona Hallab, and Academy Director, Dr. Reem Deeb, made me discover my true talent (and obviously I’m a ten year old kid and I scream my lungs out), so they helped me treat my voice well and taught me how to sing well and stop screaming.

Keys’n Cords also gave me an opportunity to go to a recording studio (The Kids Star Experience). It was one of the best days of my life, experiencing recording my own voice .

Thank you Keys’n Cords Music Academy for everything you have done for me. I love you.

Said El Kadi- My Musical Journey

I got my first keyboard at the age of 4, and since then, I have never looked back. Because of piano, from a young age, I began playing and listening to classical pieces by composers like Chopin, Mozart, Bartok, Beethoven, and immediately fell in love with the music. In 2010 and residing in Egypt, I was introduced to Trinity College London piano curriculum, which had only just begun there, and when I moved to Lebanon in July 2014, I began searching from a piano academy that offered this curriculum. Some were too serious, where I was demanded to practice hours a day while playing pieces I did not like, and some were too unserious, with one teacher who had her cat sitting on the piano during my lesson. So, after trying out more the 4 different options lasting around 4 months each, I had enough! In a year and a half I had not found a music academy or teacher in Lebanon that would be able to teach material in an effective yet non-life-consuming way, let alone one that provided the Trinity Global accredited diploma. Then one day, I saw the Keys’n Cords sign in Verdun, and decided to give it a try. Keys’n Cords was perfect! I had the chance to adapt to my lessons, and the academy was able to provide preparation and resources for the Trinity exams, as well as being able to accompany a Lebanese delegation traveling to Dubai to sit for the exam. The academy also helped me improve my skills like music theory and ear training. Since joining, I have sat the Grade 3 and Grade 4 Trinity College exams in Dubai, both of which I passed with high distinction; Grade three at 93% and grade 4 at 98%, both from the highest grades given in exams in the Middle East.
I would like to thank Keys’n Cords Music academy directed by Dr. Reem Deeb and its teachers for my success. It taught me how to follow a strict curriculum that takes a lot of work, commitment and disciple towards my instrument, while still making the journey very enjoyable. I look forward for the level five exams next year!
